As you can see above, Tina Fey is on the cover of the new Vanity Fair. Maureen Dowd profiles her and writes:
Her true vice is cupcakes. I’ve brought her a box, one frosted with the face of Sarah Palin. She chooses that one, which is bigger, joking that it’s O.K. if she gains weight before her Annie Leibovitz photo shoot in a few days, because “Annie’s going to photograph my soul, right?”
What's especially interesting about that factoid is that cupcakes recently made an appearance on her show 30 Rock, though there's a bit of confusion as to just how much cupcake know-how New Yorker Fey has. According to Eat Me Daily (which has the clips for you to watch):
Jack Donaghy might have declared that New York is "off cupcakes and onto doughnuts," but for Liz Lemon, some things are timeless:
77th and Amsterdam, 68th and Columbus, 125th and President Clinton Boulevard. Also, don't overthink it. Sarah Lee. Frozen. Unbelievable.
While decent cupcakes on 77th and Amsterdam are news to me (and I've never even heard of President Clinton Boulevard), 69th and Columbus is the home of the uptown Magnolia Bakery. Lemon knows her cupcakes.
Maybe Fey was spoofing those of us who can, um, rattle off the locations of NYC's cupcake bakeries off the tops of our heads?
