On New Year's Eve, I was unexpectedly blessed with news that two bakeries had sent free cupcakes: Provo, Utah's The Sweet Tooth Fairy and Birmingham, Michigan's Cupcake Station. Only problem was, neither package had shown up at my office building. After some calls, Megan of Sweet Tooth Fairy found out that my package had been delivered to the wrong floor, so I went to retrieve it. Lo and behold, the one from Cupcake Station arrived...today. So it was shipped December 29th but due to the holiday I didn't get it until today. However, the chocolate-covered cupcakes are intact. I ate one today and will post after trying another one. I commend both companies on their packaging; the cupcakes and other treats arrived perfectly intact.

The vanilla/vanilla cupcake from The Sweet Tooth Fairy was a true vanilla lover's treat. The frosting was actually so rich that I had to take some of it off - I often do that, and consider it a good sign, because a little rich frosting goes a long way. I asked Megan what her secret is, but aside from telling me she uses four kinds of vanilla extract, she was keeping mum.

The chocolate/chocolate cupcake was good, too, and the frosting also very rich, so much so that I only ate a few bites. Again, this is not a bad thing; sometimes I find that if I eat a whole cupcake just because I can, or because it was given to me or I paid for it, my mouth is too full of sugar.
The vanilla in my opinion blasts the chocolate out of the water. Not that the chocolate was bad, but the vanilla was outstanding.

She also sent these cake balls, pictured above, which, while not cupcakes, are cupcake-esque I think. They were really rich and delicious, as you might expect chocolate-covered cake to be! Soon the world will know about The Sweet Tooth Fairy because her cupcakes are going to be on The Rachael Ray Show soon. You can keep up with what she's up to on her blog and Twitter. I don't know that I'll be getting to Utah myself anytime soon, but I know there are cupcake spies who can keep us posted!
