How did The Cupcake Bar get started and why did you decide to only offer cupcakes? What is your baking background?
I actually started this company based off an idea that I had for a client under the Figs Catering umbrella. Seeing everyone's reactions and just how fun it was made me want to offer it as its own service! My culinary background is both culinary school, many years of restaurant experience and owning my own catering businesses.
Walk us through a typical The Cupcake Bar party.
We are a cupcake catering company, which means that we come to the event and set up the complete bar for you and your guests to enjoy! At the event, your guests get to come through the line and have our cupcake bartender customize their cupcake with their flavor of cake, filling, icing and topping! Ahead of time we work with the guests to make sure we customize the cupcake menu to their theme.
What's your suggested number of attendees? Do you offer different types of cupcakes and selections for adults and kids?
Our parties start at 15 people and go up to well, pretty much as big as you want! And, each of our events is customized to the clients wants, so the clients get to choose what is best for them!
Do you do parties in people's homes as well as at other kinds of venues? What's the ideal venue from your perspective?
Yes, we do parties at homes. The ideal venue for us is somewhere where people want to enjoy cupcakes and have a blast!
What's been the most fun event you've held?
The most fun event has been our launch party that we had last April! It was amazing to see all the support and everyone enjoying cupcakes, milk and/or wine!
Can you tell us more about your Valentine's Day Naughty or Nice
Cupcakes and Wine pairing event?
Yes! We pair with a local wine bar, House Wine, and do cupcake and wine pairings. We handle the cupcake menu and they pair that up with their fabulous wines! It is so much fun and all of our customers love it!
Why do cupcakes and wine go together? Which particular pairings do you suggest?
Why don't they go together! I mean, cake.. wine!? To me, wine goes with everything...especially cupcakes! My favorite pairing is pretty much anything chocolate with a dark, bold red. YUM!
How far in advance should customers book you for parties?
We request at least a week in advance. We will try and squeeze you in with shorter notice... but, the dates are first come, first served!
Is there anything specifically Austin- or Texas-related about The Cupcake Bar?
It is locally run and operated. Our Event Designer, Courtney and myself are both Texas girls and support the local economy!
What's your favorite and least favorite part of running The Cupcake Bar?
My favorite part is working with the customers and coming up with different menus! The least favorite part for me would have to be the administrative, not so fun!

How often do you eat cupcakes?
I eat cupcakes anywhere that I see them, you know, to stay on top what is going on! It is a tough job, but someone has to do it. I probably each cupcakes at least once a week, if not more!
What's the best thing about eating cupcakes?
Finishing it, so I can eat another one!
What's your favorite type of cupcake?
Dark Chocolate filled with Vanilla Bean Whipped Cream & Fudge Chocolate Icing. Topped with Coconut & Pecans.
How do cupcakes compare/contrast to other baked goods for you?
I would have to say that they are pretty much at the top of the list! Although, I do have a fierce sweet tooth!
Is there any innovation you'd like to see made to the cupcake that would improve it for you?
Is it possible to make them taste as good as they do and make them calorie free?!
Do you bake your own cupcakes? Or (even better) have someone who bakes them for you?
We have an AWESOME baker who makes the BEST cupcakes!
What's your first cupcake-related memory?
I remember my mom bringing some home one day and I proceeded to eat the icing off each cupcake. What can I say, I am an icing girl! Needless to say, she wasn't happy, but I sure was!
What's the most fun you've ever had with a cupcake?
I would say creating The Cupcake Bar! There are so many ways to have fun with a Cupcake at our parties!
