Live stream of the Obama/Lincoln cupcake art at the Smithsonian, today and tomorrow

How cool is this?

Watch artist Zilly Rosen create A New Birth of Freedom, a double portrait of Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama made from more than 5,600 cupcakes. Times for live webcast: February 13 from 2 to 5 p.m. and February 14 from noon to 6:30 p.m.

More information from Eye Level as to the types of cupcakes being used to create these two Presidents in cupcake form:

In case you need more encouragement we'll offer a preview of the bill of fare: those sampling Honest Abe will enjoy a vanilla cupcake with chocolate butter cream frosting, while onlookers who opt for our newest president will bite down on a chocolate cupcake with vanilla butter cream frosting. Both sets of cakes will be sealed with a colorful fondant that will contribute to each president’s likeness. If neither flavor sounds yummy to you, we have highly classified information that the treats making up the stripes of the American flag in the background will be red velvet. Mmm.

Members of our New Media department will be dutifully filming the whole process (and we’d be lying if we said the free cupcakes weren’t an incentive to work on a Saturday), so should you not be able to attend the incredible edible event, you can check back with Eye Level to view the time-lapse video of the portrait’s candied creation and delicious demise.

I'm still debating since I have a huge cold, but I really want to check this out tomorrow. If only DC were a little closer to New York!

Foxyvee, you need to stop by tomorrow, as they are planning to have attendees come and eat the art work. Don't think it will be there on Monday.

I just came from the portrait gallery, and can provide the following info: All cupcakes are vanilla. Obama's cupcakes are filled with chocolate cream/frosting, while Lincoln's are filled with vanilla frosting. The flag cupcakes are not red velvet, but I could not tell what they were filled with. Zilly and her team were building from 2-5pm today, and the finished portrait will be on display noon to 5 tomorrow, and eaten from 5 to 7pm.
