Tame the Bear looks at cupcakes in the recession

I had never even heard of Tame the Bear, which bills itself as "your safe haven from this financial crisis," before now - thanks to @Poorville on Twitter (who, yes, is part of Tame the Bear) for passing this on because it's so fun.

Tame the Bear has this hilarious little video where they go to Chicago's The Bleeding Heart Bakery and Lovely, a bake shop and talk to the owners about their cupcakes and about what cupcakes mean to us now. Or, in their words:

(Caution: This episode contains graphic close-ups of God’s most scrumptious creation, the cupcake, and contains imagery that some might describe as “food porn.” Enjoy, and keep your hands where we can see them.)

During a recession, there’s nothing better than curling up under your Snuggie with a warm, gooey, mouth-watering cupcake.

There’s something about the cupcake that has people going sugar-crazy, with cupcake shops reporting better sales than ever, despite the financial crisis.

What’s got everyone in this frosting-induced tizzy? Our Serena Brahney investigates.

I love that one of the comments is: "I would sell national secrets for a cupcake right now."
