Blogger Boots in the Oven recently made Pop Rocks cupcakes to celebrate turning 30. Happy Birthday!

She writes:
The difficulty came with figuring out how to get maximum Pop Rocks effect. See, the little carbonated candies are extremely hydrophobic. Get them near moisture and they go flatter than Ashley Simpson. What? Her voice. Sheesh.
A lot of cup cakes recipes just call for pouring a bunch of Pop Rocks on top at the last minute. Bogus. Seriously. That's no way to turn thirty. I decided that they must be filled. Unfortunately, Heston's Pop Rocks base is hard, like a chocolate bar. I wanted a soft, gooey, extra snappy filling.
After a bit of research and tinkering, I came up with a brilliant alternative.
