On Sunday, the 26th of April, Hey Cupcake! introduces "Solar Sunday," at our north location, 5530 N. Burnet Rd. The event will take place from 3pm to 7pm and will include entertainment and education about the possibilities of solar energy production and energy conservation. By bringing together different talents and passions, Hey Cupcake! will provide a venue for sharing moments and raising awareness.
Sustainable Waves, Inc. will provide a solar-generator to charge battery systems, which in turn power the PA system and energy efficient LED lighting. Sustainable Waves' non-profit subsidy is Hubbert's Peak, an organization that provides a venue for the renewable energy industry to demonstrate new technologies in a hands-on approach to the general public through workshops. Providing educational services, C & D Energy contributes in four parts: Renewable Energy Generation, Energy Management Solutions, Sustainable Living Education, and Energy Conservation. Pure Light is a new green lighting company in Austin and will be there representing the emerging field of Ultra low power LED lights, which use a fraction of what incandescent bulbs use and last over 10 years. Come explore how they replicate natural light and can easily replace bulbs in fixtures in your home. In addition, CLEAResult, Consulting Inc. will provide energy efficiency advice and resources to help with energy audits and conservation programs.
The focus of the event is to provide a venue for both entertainment and educational purposes, and through the use of both, raise awareness about alternative energy sources for the community of Austin. By using the backdrop of Hey Cupcake! and live music, we hope to create an interactive, multi-generational, fear-free, fun-filled event that demonstrates the abilities of our community and local businesses to adapt to a changing world.
