500 free mini cupcakes June 3rd from NYC's CupcakeStop cupcake truck

Florence Fabricant in The New York Times' Diner's Journal Blog reports:

Lev Ekster said cupcakes sustained him while he was finishing his studies at New York Law School earlier this year. But he’s put his legal career on hold and instead of studying for his bar exam, he will be running CupcakeStop, a mobile cupcake truck that will start selling tender, brightly flavored cupcakes (red velvet, chocolate peanut butter swirl, Oreo crumb, triple chocolate, among others), starting on June 3.

The first stop, at 10 a.m., will be 14th Street between University Place and Fifth Avenue, when he will give away 500 mini-cupcakes. After that, the mini-cupcakes will be $1, and full-size ones $2.25. Manal Mady, a professional baker, makes them in Brooklyn and she has plenty of work to do. Based on demand during a trial run last week, Mr. Ekster expects that he will be able to sell 1,200 to 1,500 a day.
