This is a really exciting cupcake pairing and we wish we could be there! Second best is getting first-hand reports from Jess and Olivia as the week progresses. Austinites - do yourselves a favor and visit Sugar Mama's this week.
From the press release:
Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop, Austin’s premiere home-style dessert bakery, will host Australian cupcake virtuoso Jess Pryles, founder of Melbourne-based Sugadeaux Cupcakes, for a five-day celebration of all things sweet from Tuesday, May 26 through Saturday, May 30.
Pryles is in the United States to keep updated on the latest developments in the cupcake world and will feature two of her bakery’s most popular items, the Malteser and the Mojiteaux, as well as a special-edition wattleseed cookie.
The Malteser is a chocolate cupcake featuring a Malteser (an Australian brand of malt chocolate ball candy) on top with malted frosting, while the Mojiteaux is Sugadeaux’s take on the Cuban drink marrying rum, lime, and sugar. The wattleseed cookie features the seed from Australia’s national flower, the wattle – a rich, nutty spice that has recently been catching on in Australian gourmet circles...
“We’re thrilled to have Jess here as a guest baker,” said O’Neal. “It’s amazing to have discovered someone halfway across the world who shares your approach to making quality desserts. It’s exciting to know I’ll be side-by-side with her in the kitchen helping to bring a bit of Sugadeaux to Austin.”
Customers will be able to visit the store noon to 8 p.m. each of the five days to try Sugadeaux’s specialties, as well as the regular array of Sugar Mama’s offerings.
