I was lucky enough to spend yesterday evening cupcaking locally with a visiting cupcake dignitary: Jessie Oleson of CakeSpy. I'm a huge fan of her work, so I was pretty excited to meet her.
We met at Butter Lane (123 East 7th Street, NYC) for some scrumptious new summer flavors.
I know, maple-pecan is not a summer flavor, but it didn't matter as they were sold out. I tried the summer cherry, which was magnificent.
Jessie had the peanut butter banana (banana cake with peanut butter frosting), which was also pretty tasty. I love the Butter Lane banana cake recipe. SO good!
Here's the cinnamon-honey, which we somehow forgot to try!
Someone, maybe one of Jessie's many fans, made her this bag with her Cuppie design on it!
Adorable, like its owner.
(Coincidentally, and we'll need to hear from Butter Lane on this (Rachel has an interview scheduled, so tune in for more!), the bakery seems to have applied for a beer and wine license as well as changing its hours to stay open until midnight. This is a bold move, considering the local community board situation. Intrepid cupcake reporters we are, we promise to keep you posted.)
After Jessie and I had our fill of Butter Lane yumminess, we strolled over to ChikaLicious Dessert Club (204 East 10th Street, NYC) for more cupcakes!
I was stuffed, but took a caramel-filled caramel cupcake home with me for later testing.
Both Rachel and I have separate interviews coming up with Chikalicious, so keep your eyes peeled (eww! not literally) for more information.
And to Jessie, it was a pleasure to cupcake with you.
