Well, judging from the hubbub over bacon cupcakes that's been going on (you may recall that Jessie Oleson of Cakespy said that's one of her bestsellers in terms of cupcake artwork), plus the fact that I went to an entire one-man show last night by Mike Daisey about bacon (which mentioned cupcakes too), I think the world is indeed ready for this new cupcake from Chicago's Phoebe's Cupcakes, according to their latest press release:
Phoebe's Cupcakes™, a Chicago-based maker and marketer of gourmet cupcakes and other pastries, announced today the launch of a new breakfast cupcake, Phoebe's Pancake & Bacon Breakfast Cupcake™, a pancake flavored buttermilk cake soaked in maple syrup, topped with a maple cream frosting and fresh bacon, and a touch of cinnamon. The cupcake will be available in the morning from 8:00 to 11:00.
Phoebe's Cupcakes' Executive Pastry Chef Kate McNamara said, "With Phoebe's Cupcakes opening early in the morning, I created this cupcake specifically for our breakfast customers and to offer something different, with both a savory and sweet flavor." The Chicago bakery & café also offers cupcake shaped cinnamon rolls in the morning, along with regular cupcake offerings, and is in the process of developing scones also. McNamara indicated that the company will add one additional breakfast offering later this year.
And I must point out that they do seem to have more cupcake flavors than any bakery I've seen - 200+!! They only offer a few each week, announced on Twitter, so for example, last week's were:
Pina Colada, Mint Meltaway, Orange Mango, Death by Chocolate, Funfetti, Salted Caramel, Red Velvet & Very Vanilla
