Cupcake bakery Bubblecake to open Monday in Roanoke, Virginia

Update: I've updated this post at the request of Bubblecake's owner. She told me the blog I had linked to of theirs wasn't current (though it was online and found via searching), so I took the link down, but am letting the comments stand. And again, another (do we really need another? sadly, yes) reminder: use your own photos of your own products. That's the best way to build a business/grow a customer base. I've put in a request for some actual photos of their cupcakes to share with the blog, but there is one linked below at Roanoke Times and one on their Facebook page.

The Roanoke Times brings us the news of the opening of Roanoke, Virginia bakery Bubblecake:

I sampled the deliciously summery Key lime cupcake, while some co-workers tasted the extreme chocolate. Other flavors on the menu include pistachio, coconut ("the South in your mouth"), cinnamon roll, hazelnut white chocolate, peanut butter cup, bananas foster and caramel apple.

There's a pink cupcake with purple icing for the princess in the family. It's dotted with "pearl" sprinkles. And for the miniature superhero, how about a red velvet cupcake with blue cream cheese icing?

A lot of Lusk's energy goes into the details, such as the tiny umbrella in the Key lime cupcake or the surprise toppers that will adorn the birthday cake cupcake.

"The styling of it is what I enjoy the most," she said. "I want people to feel like it is a throwback to childhood or birthday parties."

And their Fridge Magnet blogger says the shop will be open Monday.

On their menu, the bubblecake flavor is described as "think twinkie, but better."

There is a photo at Fridge Magnet which is the only one I can find.

You can also check out their Facebook page and Twitter account.

Here, found the blue cupcakes. Scroll down this lady's idea page of pictures. There is a Martha Stewart mark on her pictures of those same blue cupcakes.

That really cheeses me. Thanks for pointing it out, Megan. One of my biggest pet peeves (as a photographer) is people who use others' images without credit. Uncool.

As a home decorator living down the street from this newly opened storefront, it bugs me a little that she would use images of someone else's work (photography and cakery) to promote her products.

Another reason I will not be visiting this store.

Hi, I am the proprietor of bubblecake bakeshop in Roanoke, VA and I need to clarify an error.
You have all erroneoously accessed my defunct blog (which is not reflective of my business) which I put together a long time ago and do not send people to. It is a sample page I created prior to launching my home business and creating my site. None of the info there is relevant and it has sample photos etc. that I put up when playing around with the idea of actually launching a business and creating a website so that I had something to show investors. Obviously, I never intended to offend anyone by using sample images of the types of cakes I had planned to be marketing; I was "dreaming" of a cupcake shop when I created that blog. As soon as I raised the capital to open my shop, we built a website (which does have one stock image until I can afford photos of my cakes, sorry). My website is simply www.bubblecake.com. I do hope this clears things up.....Thanks, Lisa.

I'm curious what other reason "anonymous" has for not visiting Bubblecake

I recently had a very dissatisfying experience with Bubblecake. While I have been a long-time customer of the shop, I have to say I will not be stepping foot inside this store again. Upon dealing with the owners of this business (which I had never done before) I have to say they are some of the rudest people I have met in a long time. Neither of them have one ounce of focus on customer service! Very unprofessional.
