Sorry to be posting this so late, but, well, I was watching fireworks and eating fried cheese and grilled meats and chips on the actual 4th of July.

I think these red, white and blue cupcakes, which manage to resemble firecrackers, are pretty spectacular - they're by Flickr user death by cupcake
Our reader Diane sent us the above cupcakes, which show their patriotic spirit inside and out!

Boulder's Tee & Cakes used a flag and red swirl on one cupcake, and on another, sprinkles to signify red, white and blue (as well as red velvet cake and white frosting)
Chicago's Sugar Bliss Cake Boutique also uses colored star sprinkles, but with an entirely different look.
