I loved visiting Pretty Boy at Mikey's Pet Shop. Mikey's had been my neighborhood Pet Guard Premium provider for many years, until the store moved to 7th Street, which was just too far to go for pet food. I still stopped by (especially when across the street at Butter Lane!) to visit Mikey, his family, and the cats: Herbie and Pretty Boy. Pretty Boy was a fluffy, mellow, super-groovy white-furred purr machine. He rumbled under your touch, even at his advanced age. He died recently (at 22!), and everyone (including the NYTimes) mourned him. He was an awesome kitty, and he's seriously missed.

Rachel captured this shot at Butter Lane. It's probably too late to still get the cupcakes, but it made me happy to get a way to honor Pretty Boy (and cupcakes).

Shouldn't folks also be honoring the Mayor of 7th street who recently passed away? Or is that sentence so poorly written to be tragic?
