Vegan Chocolate Cupcake From The Chocolate Muffin

Sunday afternoon, I went to the Afro Punk Block Party in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. It was so much fun! I ran into a fellow twitterer Jeannette and she asked me if I tried the vegan cupcakes yet. So, I walked over to the booth for The Chocolate Muffin and got a chocolate cupcake and a red velvet cupcake. They were surprisingly delicious! Vegan cupcakes are often not as moist as regular cupcakes, but I really enjoyed these. Etisha Lewis is the owner, and she told me that she just started her business a few months ago. There is no storefront, but she does delivery all over New York City.

Really? I have found that vegan cupcakes are usually MORE moist than normal ones. I guess you just haven't had any good vegan cupcakes before, then!

I just made my first vegan cupcakes this weekend, and they were mighty moist. Tasty, too, They were the Apricot Almond Cupcakes from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World, though I didn't glaze them, as the original recipe calls for. And even without the glaze they were quite moist.

I'm going to agree with "JackieandSteve"! Vegan cupcakes are no different than dairy cupcakes, there's good & bad, moist & not-so-moist!
