The cutest fake cupcakes I've ever seen

Sorry for the lack of updates today - I was asleep from 9:30 am to 7 pm, knocked out I guess by a post-Chicago sugar coma cold/flu. If only cupcakes were the cure for the common cold, I'd be all set! Finally resurfacing and feeling slightly better.

Lots to catch up on, starting with...

Check these out:

They look like cupcakes, right? But...they are actually Rice Krispie treats.

They're by Marj Jenkins at The Icing on the Cake, who writes:

These look like cupcakes, but they are actually Rice Krispie Treats made for a gluten-free birthday celebration. If there's anything better than a buttery, homemade Rice Krispie Treat, it's a Rice Krispie Treat with buttercream on top... my kids made sure I made extras of these goodies!

These remind me that one of the places I missed in Chicago was The Meatloaf Bakery, where they make meatloaf in the shape of cupcakes. Next time! Kudos to Marj for such a fun treat that has the good looks of a cupcake and the tastiness of a Rice Krispie treat (yes, it's okay to like cupcakes and other baked goods, though sometimes I feel a little guilty about it, like I should always choose a cupcake over other options).

YUMMMM! These are a great cupcake substitute.
Rice Krispy treats haven't really taken off here in Australia - it's such a shame!
Hope you're feeling better!

What a coincidence! I made meatloaf cupcakes as well! Piped with mashed potato "frosting," and fried onion "sprinkles"!
