Cupcake job ad for bakery opening in Stuttgart, Germany

Cupcake news of a bakery opening in Stuttgart, Germany, via Craigslist job ad:

We are starting up southern Germany’s 1st ever American cupcake shop! Our artisan cupcake business will open in December 2009 in Stuttgart (home of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche)! We are looking for an energetic American pastry chef who is looking for a new challenge and would like the opportunity to live and work in exciting Europe. We are targeting our search on people with experience making exceptional cupcakes. As such, candidates must above all be passionate about cupcakes; however, this job is much more than just cupcakes!

Responsibilities include:

• Producing cupcakes, cookies, brownies, cheesecake, breakfast muffins and other classic American desert specialties that do not currently exist in Germany.
• Creating your own production list each day and maintaining production and inventory logs.
• Ordering, vendor management, and inventory control.
• Small and large volume production of existing in-house recipes and event catering / delivery.
• New concept and recipe development (the really fun part).
• Strong time management skills are required.
• Availability to teach local classes on the art of American cupcake making and decorating.

I just saw this today so the spots may be filled (they were interviewing today and tomorrow), but see the ad for more info.

The interesting thing is I was in Paris for Memorial Wknd and was in this really cute bakery and of all people to run into...the owners of the soon to open American Cupcake shop.
They are awesome couple that have put a lot of love in preperation for their shop.
They open on 10 June 2010 at either 4pm or 4:30pm.
They are located in the Market platz I think it is called. It is the platz behind the Markethalle in downtown Stuttgart. You know where the Toy store is that looks into a platz. And where the goverment bldg with the doorless elevator is located.
Anyone in Stuttgart, please go check their shop out on 10 June. I have to say the owners have put a lot of passion and love and dedication into making this a true success.....
See you there!!!

Lilly, they open 10 June 2010!!!! Coming up in 2 days!!! They are downtown in what I think is called the Marketplatz. It is in the area behind the Markethalle.
The area also has the goverment bldg famous for their doorless elevator and a really cute corner toy store.
I do believe their grand opening is going to be 4 or 4:30pm. They did have an ad in the Stars and Stripes.
Hope to see you there.

Hi everyone,
I love cupcakes and Stuttgart..
The only thing is.. I would like to warn anybody trying out for this possition! My sister and i both worked with this hyper sensative bi-polar woman ( She is more in charge of the place physically than her husband.)

It was a nightmare working for them, maybe on eof the worst experiences we both had ever.
BIG stress filled with micromanagment, manipulation, sutile threats, and an emotionaly un stable work zone.

These people do not care for there employees at all, it just an act and within less than one year every single person who has worked for them has walked out the door or has been wrongfully fired. We are looking at about 16 people for a 3-4 kitchen work force in under one year.
IT is too good to be true, please do not put your selves through what we did and our other work mates.

you may contact me if you like.. Or take your own word for it.

Anyways thanks for listening.. But to be fair.. i do recomend trying the cupcakes some time.. at least when we worked there at the time, some pretty great things had been produced, and we compared all over germany in other cupcakes shops and Vanessa's is the best. Weird how good things can be extracted from exploitation.

Bye.

I have to side with Siamuays comment! I too worked here and it was the worst experience of my life.

The shop does look nice but only because the owners are rolling in money. However this is a facade.
Cross those lavander purple walls and sweet scents n frosting swirls is a harsh, manipulative, VERY unstable and aggressive work environment. And yes! It's true the owner is very a "hyper sensitive bi-polar" biatch of a person!

She had tried to turn everyone against each other by telling them lies one about the other, so that they would trust her more and give her inside info on them.

Everyone worked their heart out- full of passion.. to have it all sucked dry and always under appreciated! It's s true by a 100% that this company has gone throgh 16+ employees which have either have left without notice or were fired. The majority have quite, fleeing literally!

Enjoy Stuttgart because it is beautiful city, but do it with a tourist visa and not SLAVE-WORKING for a witch. I lived here for awhile and there are better parts of Germany to see and enjoy. Don't make the same mistake of wanting to work here just to get into Germany cause you'll regret it. You end up working 40 minutes way of the downtown, and are FORCED to stay in the kitchen more the 9 hours a day, though on contract it's a different story and one only gets 20 minute break which is deducted from your salary.. that somehow is always less than the agreed upon amount.

The other rather informative comments here sound as if they were written from someone working for this company. The owners are all smiles...and really sell their shop! Of course, it's theirs.

Speaking from experience and having spoken with a few other people that worked there, The owner also STEALS MONEY from the employees by being VERY tricky with the paperwork and wording they use in the contract they give you.

I added my two cents only out of a warning, Good luck and enjoy Germany
