Three years ago, I lived up in Harlem, so it was nice to be in my old neighborhood for the opening of Tonnie's Minis. Tonnie's Minis Harlem is the second location for owner Tonnie Rozier whose first location is on West 3rd Street near NYU. Tonnie was formerly the Director of the Boys and Girls Club and began pursuing his passion for baking five years ago as a side business.

The new Harlem location offers three sizes of cupcakes in a variety of sizes, flavors, icings and toppings. You can customize your cupcakes which kinda like being at Cold Stone Creamery. The sizes are mini (cake shot), medium (California) and large (Hollywood). The cupcake flavors are Death by Chocolate, Red Velvet, Lemon, Golden Heart (yellow cake), Carrot, Golden Sponge (yellow cake with red velvet). The icings are vanilla buttercream, cream cheese, lemon, strawberry and whipped cream. The toppings are sprinkles, M&Ms and cookies. I tried a few of the cupcakes, and I really like, the chocolate, red velvet and carrot cake cupcakes. The cake is flavorful and moist and the frosting is delicious!
