You saw the news about the Los Angeles outpost of BabyCakes, Erin McKenna's largely gluten-free cupcake and donut and other desserts bakery, in this video. Well, now we have a date - this Wednesday, December 9th! The veerrry long-awaited bakery is finally opening. via NBC New York (we were too late for this, which is why you should follow your favorite bakeries' blogs, Twitter and Facebook accounts if you want the latest scoop, but Erin McKenna spoke today at the 92nd Street Y Tribeca in New York).

They will be located in downtown Los Angeles at 130 East 6th Street (between S. Main Street and S. Los Angeles Street). BabyCakes also ships cupcakes to the 48 contiguous United States.

BabyCakesNYC was one of the many cupcake bakeries that donated cupcakes last week to our 5-year anniversary party. Here's a few photos from Guest of a Guest photographer Josh Wong (click to see more of his party photos). In addition, I purchased some cupcake tops ($2/each), which consist of the frosting part with a tiny bit of cake - like a muffin top, but a cupcake top. I love that they offer these - it allows you to try a cupcake if you're not sure you'll like it, and for frosting lovers who don't want a full-on frosting shot, you get the best of both worlds.
