Brian Cualfield Forbes brings us the inside scoop on how the famous $25,000 Neiman Marcus cupcake cars were built by designer Lisa Pongrace...and whether cupcakes or muffins are faster! (I think those of you reading here can guess though.)
Caulfield writes at Forbes:
It's a simple story, really. Berkeley designer Lisa Pongrace -- also known as "space muffin" -- created an electric cupcake car for an annual art festival devoted to burning the man.
Now she and her collaborators are selling her creation to the man. More precisely, the moneyed can buy her cupcake cars for $25,000 each through the Nieman Marcus Christmas catalog.
To be sure, Pongrace and her collaborators are still idealists. No one has bought one, yet, and they're happy to share the plans for their cupcake cars, for free.
