Here's the official description from the site about what a Cake Wreck is:

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

To inspire you, here are two cupcake photos she recently posted:

"You Both Suck for Different Reasons" is probably one of my favorite cakes. Cake..what a lovely way to air your hate. :)

My favorite wreck of all time is the Alien creature cake that says "I want you..." from the Autumn Terrors post. It just makes me laugh because it's exactly something silly I would make for my guy. Cute, creepy and totally WTF?! worthy.

In most recent memory, think this would have to be my favorite for a huge list of reasons. First on my list is that I was laughing so hard, I was crying which brought a crowd of people to my cube, all of whom now are regular readers. Second is just how stunned I was that the people that created these masterpieces are professional (I use the term loosely....pun intended in some cases).

Thanks for opportunity to win a copy of the book.

I'm a big fan of all of the cake wrecks where it's obvious that the person wrote down the directions and those ended up on the cake mixed up with the greeting. Or when they're just the wrong words, like "4hour leader" or whatever that one was.

The Mario cake is a masterpiece. What love must go into creating something so detailed. Wonderful. For sheer creepiness I think the clown cupcakes with willies have to be my fav. No one wants to think of clowns that way!

I LOVED the cake with the birth control on it for the women in Oregon!! I promptly sent it to my sister in law, who lives there :)

I love them all! I think the funniest ones are the ones like the cover of the book where they write what the person said out loud. Makes you wonder why they didn't stop to double check what the person said??

I don't even want to know what the party theme is for the cake decorated with birth control pill packs...yikes! And then it says 'Women Of Oregon'...
I love the "You did it again" baby cake.

I find myself ashamed that at my son
recent 3rd birthday party, I was DISAPPOINTED to NOT have a CakeWreck to share......who would have thought having a cake done right would be such a WRONG!

With that being said I have *several* favorite wrecks....the one I always come back to though is from the post, "Pioneering Pastries"....the non-dead cow with eyes wide open. Even better than the classic red-velvet armadillo cake I think--------Wreck on!

I have been following Jen for a long time now and have had more giggles at her blog than I can remember having in a LOOOONG time. My fave cake has to be (and I hope she will know what I am talking about here) the office worker who was assigned to buy a cake for a co-worker...he forgot and ended up at the bakery in the 11th hour...he ordered a fireman cake as a joke for the coworker (not a fireman) moving to China. And the hose on the cake was so obscene when he received it that he had to bring it to the manager of the store to see it and they called out the baker and I am not telling this very well. You have to find the post and read it. I laughed so hard I was crying! Long Live Cake Wrecks!

I would have to say, one of the older cakes is just too funny. There was a cake made to look like a spaceship for NASA, and well let's just say it looks a lot like something else.

I love the one on the cover. When I was a practicing attorney, I had one secretary who added in my edits to a brief. The edit she included to send to the court was, "add this in here" or something of that nature. NOT good. lmsmiley@surewest.net

It's so hard to choose just one, but my absolute favorite is the CCC from Sept '08 that was supposed to look like Curious George but ended up looking like some horrible cross between Beast from Beauty and the Beast and one of the Berenstain Bears. Every time I see it, I laugh till tears. :)

There are so many cakes worth so many guffaws. But my favorite just in terms of the sheer offensiveness. I've seen cakes involving nudity i.e. boobies that don't bother me. But this woman figure actually birthing for a baby shower cake?! Good gawd! Mom needs some new friends! http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2008/07/first-censored-cake-wreck.html

I absolutely hate cupcake cakes - they always look so so so awful. So my FAVORITE cupcake cakewreck would have to be the "Ojai - Worth the drive!" cupcake cake.

Otherwise, my favorite is definitely the birth control cake. Hilarious!

I think I would have to go back to Thanksgiving 2008, which was when I first came across Cake Wrecks. I looked at a post of turkey wrecks, and was laughing so hard I was crying.
