Recap: Cupcake2K10 The Resolution At Union Hall

I arrived at Union Hall a little after 5PM expecting a swarm of cupcake lovers as soon as I walked in. However, it was too early for the masses who still have full time jobs and/or those who came in from Manhattan. There were babies, at least half a dozen toddling around while their parents sat and chat. It was like a living nightmare for the authors of FIPS (F@#ked in Park Slope).

I talked to Matt Robicelli and ordered a regular tres leches cupcake as a way to pre-game for the deep fried cupcake that I would be eating later. The four flavors were the Tres Leches, the Irish Car Bomb, the Amour (chocolate and chambord) and the Elvis (peanut butter, bacon, banana). I grabbed a stool from the bar. Soon Eric from Garden Fork, Amber from Hey Brooklyn, Chris from The Skint, and Erica from FIPS arrived. I even met anonymous blogger, STFU Parents. It was a Brooklyn blogger party!

This is a picture of the Amour. I can't decide if I love this one or the Tres Leches more. The secret to deep frying cupcakes is to freeze them first. That way, the cupcakes remain in tact. Amber said that the melted frosting tasted like "liquid happy". All the build up was worth it. They were delicious!

BTW: Robicellis just announced that will be doing deep fried cupcakes on St. Patrick's Day at Park Slope bar The Double Windsor. Follow Robicellis on Twitter to get updates.
