Yes, the District's latent obsession with cupcakes will rear its frosting-topped head tomorrow morning at the D.C. Superior Court. Starting at 8:30 a.m., the first 200 couples in line to file their same-sex marriage applications will get free treats from Hello Cupcake. According to a press release, each couple is promised "a box including Hello Cupcake's signature chocolate and vanilla flavors, offering congratulations and good wishes." Hello Cupcake says they coordinated with marriage equality sponsor D.C. Council member David Catania to make the same-sex cupcakes possible.
"We are so proud of our city and happy to be a tiny part of breaking through this barrier," said Penny Karas, owner of Hello Cupcake, in a statement.
