10,000 Cupcake Pyramid Challenge to benefit American Cancer Society

A very cool cupcake benefit that's also trying to set a world cupcake record!

From Tampa Bay Online:

Organizers are shooting for a world record with the 10,000 Cupcake Pyramid Challenge in support of the fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Contributors can drop off cupcakes at various sites in the "Cupcakes for a Cure" campaign.

The delectable dessert items then will be displayed during the Relay, which will take place Friday and Saturday, at Gulf High School's Des Little Stadium, 5535 School Road.

"Come be a part of history," Wendy Brenner urged in a message for donations. Brenner is unit president of the American Cancer Society Pasco County

"We are looking to set a world record for the most number of cupcakes collected in a structure, but we need your help," Brenner added.

According to Brenner, the goal is 10,000 cupcakes, whether homemade or store-bought. Organizers ask for "standard-size" cupcakes.

The final count of cupcakes is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Friday during the Relay.

The cupcake drop-off sites are:

• Des Little Stadium, 2 to 6 p.m., through Thursday

• Gulf Harbors Civic Center, 4610 Floramar Terrace, 9 to 11 a.m. today

People also can bring cupcakes to the Relay on Friday night. The Relay itself continues overnight from 6 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday.
