Sunday afternoon after brunch, Rachel and I along with our friends Len and Chris stopped in to Brown Betty Boutique in Philadelphia (1000 N. 2nd Street) to have cupcakes. It was our first visit and it will not be our last. We loved the cupcakes and the place is beautiful! The interesting thing about Brown Betty cupcakes are that they taste like "mini poundcakes". The cupcakes are not as sweet as a lot of places, but they are so good. I especially liked the vanilla poundcake. The cake is made with sour cream, and it has a nice flavor. Here's a tip when you buy the cupcakes. Make sure wait ten minutes to bring them to room temperature.
The chocolate swirl was also a favorite. Rachel cut it in half so we can the swirl throughout the cake.
Luckily, we got to meet the owner, Linda and she told us that Brown Betty will be opening a third location this spring.
