Cupcake Cruisin'

Chances are if you put cupcakes and champagne on a cruise ship, people are going to flock. The ladies of Flirty Cupcakes and Shoreline Sightseeing hosted the first ever "Cupcake Cruise" on Chicago's Lake Michigan on Tuesday night. Cupcake and champagne lovers couldn't pass up the $30 ticket to enjoy flutes of bubbly, a box of four "Minis" and an hour long boat cruise on this balmy August night.

Posting a schedule each day on Facebook and Twitter, the traveling cupcake truck keeps the public updated on where it will be and when. Since it got on the road in May, Flirty Cupcakes have become somewhat of a hunted treasure in the area.  I haven't gone to a rendezvous point yet where there wasn't a small crowd of people either standing in line at the van or looking at their phones like maniacs waiting for "Big Blue" to arrive. Social networking is ultimately how Flirty Cupcakes is able to keep the cupcake crowd coming so it was a real treat for the ladies to get to mingle on the other side of the van and put some names with faces.

Big Blue's driver Jessica says she loves the job because almost every customer is a happy one before they even get their cupcakes. Tiffany the creator of Flirty Cupcakes says she is really amazed and thrilled about how many fans have hopped on board. They jumped to over 3,500 followers in just three months. Apparently Chicagoans really love to chase their cupcakes - first vans, now boats, what's next?
