Hello fellow cupcake lovers! Kimmie here, from Full Circle {Adventures in Living, Loving and Baking}, hoping to help expand the CCTC news to the West Coast!

It's official, registration for the August Iron Cupcake: San Francisco Challenge is now open and you heard it here first! The August ingredient is coconut and the addition of an online registration system is sure to enhance the overall experience. The Challenge will take place on Monday, August 30th at 6 p.m. at the Leland Tea Company. The $5 tasting fee includes free house tea from the Leland Tea Company - a delightful pairing with the rich cupcakes and the perfect way to keep warm in the chilly summer weather!

July's Alcohol Entries - photo from personal collection

I had the pleasure of attending the Iron Cupcake SF Challenge: Alcohol and was blown away by the talent and creativity of the bakers in the Bay Area.

The challenge consists of teams of four tasting roughly 25 mini cupcakes and voting on the most creative and best tasting cupcakes. The Margarita Cupcake, baked by first time challenge baker Kathleen, was a clear winner in July - vanilla cake filled with key lime filling and topped with a lime cream cheese frosting, lime zest and rim of salt. What's not to love?

Other notable entrants included a Big Lebowski inspired White Russian, Bananas Foster and Pomegranate Martini cupcakes.

The turn out for July was overwhelming and spots filled quickly. If you're in the Bay Area, head over to the official Meetup page for Iron Cupcake: SF Challenge and reserve your spot today. In the meantime, don't forget to enter the contest to win a copy of Booze Cakes: Confections Spiked with Spirits, Wine and Beer and bake up some delicious alcohol inspired cupcakes of your own!

Hey, Kimmie, your post is great. It makes me want to travel to San Francisco just to eat cupcakes.
