As you may or may not know, the opening of New York City bakery Sugar Sweet Sunshine was one of the inspirations for starting this very blog in December 2004. I try to stop by there and sample their delicious and supremely affordable ($1.50/cupcake) cupcakes every chance I can. I was delighted, then, to find a peanut butter frosting on strawberry cake cupcake the other night, a new flavor they have for...as long as they have it. The frosting was light (for peanut butter) and delicious, and went really well with the strawberry cake. I highly recommend it. See a few more recent photos on Flickr.
Oddly, I bought a box of cupcakes and kept getting refused when I offered them to friends. What's up with that? Thankfully I found some people who were more than happy to take them. Visit sugarsweetsunshine.com for more information.

They're also selling portable cupcakes in cups (I prefer the regular form myself):

And red velvet cupcakes, just because you rarely see them with chocolate frosting:

They will also make mini cupcakes for custom orders and do custom cupcakes - click to see some of the examples on Facebook, such as these iPhone cupcakes!
