The Calgary Herald reports that Aerosmith's Steven Tyler visited Calgary's Bliss & Co. Cupcakes and Desserts on their first day in their new location! They go on to say:
"With anyone who opens up a cupcake bakery, they know that it's quite profitable. They know that even during the recession when we actually opened, it's recession proof. It really is. I think because during highs and lows, birthdays and going always, cupcakes are the way to go. It makes people happy," said Wong. "This is kind of like a quick fix."
"It's a small indulgence everyone can afford," adds Kathol.
The sales have been better than anticipated at Chinook Centre and the recent success has caught the sisters by surprise.
They wanted to expand to a place where there is a large volume of traffic. Chinook Centre fit the bill as millions of people visit the shopping mall each year.
An added bonus for Bliss is its location in the mall -- on the main level, directly beside a Starbucks kiosk.
"We wanted to be different. We didn't want to be like everyone else and open on a little street. We wanted to be very corporate. And we knew Chinook mall was headed toward that image which is in keeping with us.
