8-year-old student gets Crumbs Bakeshop to sell limited edition earth cupcake to benefit school PS 6's Eco Center

These earth-friendly charity cupcakes are going to be for sale today and tomorrow (May 2nd and 3rd) at two New York City Crumbs Bakeshop locations, but the best part is that they came about because of an 8-year-old cupcake lover, Carrie Berk! She puts out a newsletter called Carrie's Cupcake Boutique which you can sign up for here and talked Crumbs CEO Jason Bauer into selling this vanilla cupcake with a tie dye blue and green frosting resembling the earth and a green peace sign. It's on sale today through May 8that Crumbs and 78th and Third Avenue and 93rd and Lexington Avenue. Congratulations, Carrie, on her cupcake activism! "$1 from every cupcake will go to the PS 6 Eric Dutt Eco Center." Visit Crumbs.com for information about their bakeries.

If you want more background on it and Carrie's brainstorm and meeting with Jason Bauer, see the P.S. 6 school newspaper. From her piece:

Crumbs made a sample cupcake and emailed me a picture of it. It looked beautiful—they had swirled blue, green and white frosting to look like the Earth. Then they put white sprinkles on the sides. I gave it my thumbs up. They sent me a sample to taste, too. This one didn’t look as good—I told them it needed more work. The peace sign piped on top was a little messy and too big. They said, “Of course! We’ll fix it, and swirl the frosting some more.” I brought Ms. Fontana a sample to taste, too. She liked it.
