Two nights ago I walked into the Crumbs Bakeshop on 8th Street in Manhattan. It was pretty mellow and they had lots of colorful cupcakes front and center, like bright colors of Dreamsicle and the one I bought, watermelon. I had been intrigued by their new summer pie cupcake flavors, which I'll try another time, but I opted for the watermelon. It costs $3.75 and sorry, I forgot to write down the calorie count (next time I'll check).
It was unusual - not bad, but not necessarily one I'd get again. The frosting didn't taste exactly like watermelon, but it was sweet and interesting. I kept taking little bits of it; it was fruity, but not any single fruit I can put my finger on. The cake was so-so, nothing that exciting, and the filling was very, very sweet and, I think, vanilla. I think these fall into the look better than they taste category, but are worth a try if you're a watermelon fan.
