It's always wonderful when cupcake bakeries rally their customers to help others, and The Cupcake Collection in Nashville, Tennessee is doing precisely that tomorrow, November 5th, to celebrate their third anniversary, and benefits Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennesse. From Nashville Scene blog Bites, which recommends their sweet potato cupcake:
Germantown confectionery favorite The Cupcake Collection is celebrating its third anniversary tomorrow, Nov. 9, but they don't want you to give them a birthday present. (And they've pretty much got the cake covered.) Instead, they are encouraging their friends to join them in a day of giving to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.
Here's how it works: They're giving away free cupcakes for canned goods, with a goal of gathering at least 300 cans for Second Harvest. From 7 to 9 a.m., they will be celebrating Sugar Rush Hour at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Commerce, so bring your cans there to swap them for a tasty treat. There will also be entertainment from the Music City Soul street dancers, and patrons are invited to join in recording the new Cupcake Collection jingle. (Expect no royalties from that one.) Look for the Cupcake Bus parked downtown in front of the AT&T building — and you are encouraged to wear orange to show support for the Collection and their bright corporate color.
At 10 a.m., the party moves uptown to Cupcake Collection's main location at 1213 Sixth Ave. N. Until closing (5:30 p.m.), you'll still be able to swap cans for cakes. May I suggest the sweet potato flavor. It's outrageous.
You can sign up for their mailing list, find out their flavors and shipping details at thecupcakecollection.com and stay up to date via their Facebook page, where the photos below are from. You can also find them @cupcaketweets on Twitter.

Last but certainly not least, how can I not adore the crumbled cookies all over Cookie Monster's, um, face? It's like he couldn't wait!
