Georgetown Cupcake to open in Boston and NYC, plus gingerbread cupcake recipe link

This news has been reported in a few locations and posted on Twitter, but I've yet to see a firm opening date for the Georgetown Cupcake NYC SoHo bakery (they recently Tweeted "very soon"), which was originally supposed to open in 2011. Soon, I would imagine, and I hope it doesn't have quite the crazy lines the one in Georgetown had when I was there in March; the line was extremely long, there was a security guard, and it barely seemed to be moving. (There was also a wait at Sprinkles and Baked & Wired, but not as bad.)

From Boston Business Journal:

Founders Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne have signed a 3,800-square-foot lease at 83 Newbury St. and are expected to open next spring. The sisters, who have stores in Washington D.C. and Bethesda, Md., are also planning to open soon in New York City’s SoHo district. These lifelong bakers, inspired by their grandmothers, launched their first shop more than three years ago and call themselves DC’s "first and only cupcakery."

Eater Boston correctly points out that Boston is already crawling with cupcake bakeries. It'll be interesting to see how this outpost does.

Wherever you are, you can make their gingerbread cupcake recipe! And here's a video clip from their TLC reality show DC Cupcakes.
