Cupcake bakery starts running club, first meeting is this Saturday

How cool is this? From Patch.com, about Chevy Chase, Maryland's Frosting A Cupcakery hosting a fun, free event for their customers. What a great way to engage in something they enjoy, get exercise and work up an appetite. I'm a new runner (jogger, really) and would totally join one of these in New York (hint, hint). From Patch:

"We are extremely passionate about running and good health and although we run a sweetshop, it's really about eating in moderation and staying active," wrote Michelle Snow Bracken in an email to Patch.

"We are runners and want to start incorporating some of our old life back into our new "bakeshop" ... life [with its long working hours] as well as getting the community involved in something healthy too," she added.

All levels of runners are welcome to participate in Saturday's run, "from newbies to the obsessed, [and from] New Year's Resolution-ers to the bored treadmill runners," according to a Frosting statement.

Each week, there will be a different route. "Initially we plan to do a 'straight-out' run, which to us basically means running about 1.5 miles out and turning around and running the same distance back," Michelle Snow Bracken said...

The shop opens to the public on Saturdays at 11 a.m., and Saturday's special cupcake flavors include the "Cookie MOMster" (a chocolate cupcake with almond Oreo buttercream frosting), the "Frenchie" (a French toast cupcake with maple buttercream frosting) and the "cioccolato" (a gluten-free chocolate cupcake with gluten-free chocolate fudge frosting).
