Pumpkin Spice Is Out; Salted Caramel Is In

I know many people are excited that Starbucks is now serving their seasonal favorite, pumpkin spice latte. However the basic flavor may be waning in popularity.

According to MyFitnessPal who has released new data that shows that the trend of Pumpkin Spice might actually be starting to fizzle out. Last year saw the first ever decrease of pumpkin spice consumption of 7.3%, and it’s expected to drop even further this year. Meanwhile, the Salted Caramel craze is booming. From the beginning of 2014, salted caramel consumption has increased about 7%. Plus, salted caramel is enjoyed throughout the whole year, unlike pumpkin spice, which has a seasonal spike of September to January.

Personally, I love both salted caramel cupcakes and pumpkin spice cupcakes.
