Bug cupcakes from Miami's Sweetcakes Cupcakes

From Miami's Sweetcakes Cupcakes

They were written up on Daily Candy Miami, which had this to say:

Barbie Roqueta began baking as a way to battle the stress and insomnia that came with her hectic job in land development. Soon, however, she began to favor frosting to foreclosures and started Sweetcakes. Her specialty? Cupcakes and other treats to fit your occasion.

Host happy hour and serve Roqueta’s Bailey’s and mojito cupcakes. Set up your own mini carnival and pass around little gourmet candy apples. Or go with Malibu coconut rum cupcakes and palm tree-shaped almond butter cookies (so soft, even on day three) for the spring luau. Roqueta will even line the dessert tiers to match your color scheme.

Buttercream Cupcakes & Coffee have awesome cupcakes in Coral Gables FL! You can’t just have one. They are so great. I recommend the red velvet and any other flavor they offer.

Buttercream cupcakes & Coffee cupcakes are excellent. I am a big fan of these treats. I just tried the red velvet and Lisa is correct you cannot have just one. I ended up eating 4 of them in one sitting. Way to go Buttercream Cupcakes in Miami.

Sweetcakes and Buttercream both have good cupcakes. Frosting is a bit too sweet in my opinion which makes me only have the tolerance for one. I recommend Misha's Cupcakes. They are JUST right.

Misha's are Amazing!

Buttercream...I wasn't thrilled about. Icing was overload of vanilla extract and the cake was not fresh. I bake so I can tell you it was a least two days old.

Sweetcakes are BEAUTIFUL!

Buttercream opened in February 2008 and it's been great. Most of the cupcakes are really tasty. I think they should offer more flavors on a daily basis though. My favorites are the cookies and cream and the chocolate with chocolate icing. I think they should offer those along with the red velvet on a daily basis and have one special cupcake per day instead.

My all time favorite is Misha's because the cake is so moist. I can't possibly just have one and I'm looking forward to her opening her own store.

I've also tasted Sweetcakes but unfortunately I didn't find them good at all. They were pretty but way too dry. It seemed like the cake was old. I hate to speak badly about a fledgling business but they really need to do something about the cake. I've tried it on random occasions about four times already.

Buttercream cupcakes are the best! I have been to the shop on several occasions and enjoyed watching them make delicious fresh cupcakes throughout the day, freshness is just not an issue. They are much better than Misha's mass produced wet and droopy cake!

Hi everyone, this is Jose Cuellar from Buttercream Cupcakes & Coffee in Coral Gables, FL. We appreciate all the comments (both critical and supportive) on this board regarding our cupcake and coffee shop, and will use them to improve both our service and of course our cupcakes. About our cupcakes and coffee...our cupcake recipe was developed by my wife Kristine constantly looking to satisfy her own sweet tooth. These recipes where based on a family heirloom passed down from her grandmother. Our ingredients are the highest quality we can find (pure Belgian chocolates, vanilla extracts from Madagascar supplied by specialty suppliers) and our cupcakes are baked fresh daily, our coffee is a custom blend of regional Colombian beans exclusive to Buttercream Cupcakes, as well as other exclusive blends. We just opened in February and have already made improvements to our service and cupcakes based on your customer comments. For those of you who haven't yet visited us in Coral Gables I would like to extend a special offer: get a free cup of brewed coffee when you mention the secret words ‘cupcakes take the cake’. This is a limited time offer (and the obvious rules of fair play apply - 1 brewed coffee per person) until the end of April, 2008 (or else we'll go out of business!). Again, thank you for your support, and be sure to say hello when you come for your 'cupcakes take the cake' cupcake and coffee. Best wishes - Jose and Kristine "

WOW I have to disagree with most comments! I have tasted Misha's cupcakes in Dadeland and they are bland and just plain overpriced and awful!!! Buttercream is OK, the problem is that they offer very few flavors.

SweetCakes has great flavors, and the fondant she uses tastes great and not like glue! I ordered my birthday cupcake tower from SweetCakes and it came out beautiful and super tasty! I recommend the Champagne cupcakes!

Cupcake Bistro's cupcakes are amazing. I ordered the minis for my daughter's party and everyone loved them. My order tasted as if it was made a few hours earlier. They were delivered intact and presentation was beyond expectation. The best cupcakes by far.

I had previously ordered Buttercream but I was not thrilled. They seemed as if they were baked a few days back.

My favorites are still Misha's although I only LOVE them when they're fresh. Sometimes Books and Books has them and they are a couple of days old and they're not great. Also, I wish Misha would offer chocolate buttercream as well. I think that would be fabulous on her exquisite vanilla cupcake.
Buttercream is really good and they always taste fresh, but they're just not as tasty as Misha's for some reason. I absolutely love their oreo/vanilla and the chocolate/chocolate cupcake, though.
I really don't like Sweetcakes. I've had them several times now at different parties. They're absolutely adorable but I agree with someone else who posted earlier - they're wayyyyy too dry!
