A new contest: Win this Swarovski crystal cupcake necklace from Dollyday!

Thank you to all who participated in our last contest. Now, the very generous Rebecca of Dollyday is offering up this special necklace to one lucky winner! All you have to do is leave a comment below, along with your email address, in which you let us know what beverage goes best with cupcakes. Milk, coffee, tea, soda, water, juice, nothing? Let us know, especially if a certain kind of cupcake goes especially well with a certain kind of beverage. We loved reading all your responses to what you want for the holidays (and now you can direct your significant others to that thread!). My answer: I usually eat my cupcakes plain, but sometimes like some water to wash it down. But on a cold day (for those in NYC and the Northeast - like now!), I like a cup of tea with my cupcake (but I'll of course eat cupcakes by themselves!).

Here's what she says about her business and this necklace:

My name is Rebecca Nia. I am a UK-based artist and I work under the name Dollyday. I have a website www.dollyday.co.uk where I sell my wares :) I also have another website (an online boutique) where I sell cute imports and handmade creations from independant designers called www.oncherrylane.co.uk, you can find more cupcake goodness there too!

The cupcake necklace is made of acrylic and has 5 swarovski crystals on it. Baby pink "frosting" and a silver mirror "cup."

It is strung on a silver necklace with a lock and key clasp. It will arrive to the winner gift-boxed in a pretty pink box tied with ribbon. The cupcake necklace is called the Birthday girl Cupcake necklace and that it has a hot-pink cherry on top!

I think tea is best with a cupcake! That is a combination that always makes me happy.
I love this blog, I read it everyday after work and it really is a nice finish to each day.

whee! I'm a huge milk fan anyhow, but with cuppiecakes, skim milk goes perfectly! Thank you so much, Dolly!

I feel so boring saying water, but it's a good palate cleanser, and you don't really need any more calories with a cupcake...milk's good with extra-fudgy cupcakes, though.

In the wintertime i like it hot, in the summer I like it iced, but NOTHING washes a cupcake down quite like a chai tea latte! There is something about its spicy milky flavor that accentuates every cupcake variety. It makes the frostings taste creamier to me as well! I am also especially fond of pairing a chocolate frosted chocolate cupcake with a caramel latte. Fruity cupcakes go best with water I think... but if I am at home, and I am sneaking in a midnight snack, a sip of milk straight from the carton does the trick just fine!!!!!

I love them with milk. I love them with coffee. I love them with nothing to drink on days when I go running through the hallways at work and shouting with glee that someone brought in cupcakes to the office.

I like to eat my cupcakes plain to enjoy the yumminess of them! However, I usually drink water with them because I don't like milk at all!

Tea, definitely. Right now I specifically like Stash Pumpkin Spice tea with a little dash of agave nectar and soy cream. I think that goes so well because I tend to be making mostly chocolate, maple, gingerbread and other holiday flavored cupcakes right now.

I just made and ate sweet potatoe cupcakes and they were delicous with a big glass of milk. They were made even more decadent by eating them in front of a fire on a snowy day.

I have to go with milk, primarily. But I also like a good cup of strong coffee, light on the cream and sugar.

Sometimes if I'm being extra bad, though, I'll put the cupcake in a big bowl of icecream...(not an option listed, but a tasty one nonetheless)

I usually prefer not to drink anything with my cupcakes...if anything, it would be water.
But recently, being the holidays, I haven't been able to eat a yellow cupcake with buttercream frosting without a great big glass of eggnog!

I always poor a glass of milk but soon forget it's even there while devouring my precious little cuppycakes. Milk goes best I think just to wash things down =D

I'd have to say coffee with a shot of Kahlua. Dip a vanilla cupcake in it, and, bam, instant tiramisu.

Coffee with soymilk if eating it in the afternoon...

of course, just plain soymilk if it's a plain chocolate cupcake and i'm feeling needy.
Anonymous said…
I personally think a cup of coffee, sometimes plain or with a bit of cream, goes very well with; for example chocolate cupcakes. The slight bitterness of the coffee tones down the sweetness of the icing, but coffee simply tastes great with all cupcakes, icing or no icing!:)

laura_niemi6@hotmail.com
I think chocolate milk goes best with cupcakes....unless it's a fruit-flavored cupcake. Then Peach green tea is best.

Cupcakes definitely go best with tea. The tea should be extra fancy--not regular tea, but peppermint, lavender, rosehip, or jasmine.

I am a lover of chocolate, therefore chocolate cupcakes are my absolute favorite (the icing can vary). So if your indulging in a delicious moist chocolate cupcake the only beverage pairing that would be reasonable would have to chocolate milk. It takes you back to childhood when cookies and milk was the dish of choice. It's not boring like water, but its not as complicated as tea. I believe it to be the perfect combination to a perfect snack.
