Generally I'm a basic decorator - white vanilla frosting and sprinkles, but I did make blue bird in nest cupcake once with toasted coconut, and bluefrosting birds. Very fun and very cute!

I like piping. Any sort of piping. I'm still learning techniques, but, it seems to be coming along well. So far, my preference for frosting would be vanilla buttercream. Honestly, I haven't found my own personal favorite. But, vanilla buttercream is in the lead so far :) And, it seems to be a favorite among others as well.

For my son's birthday party, we bought cupcakes decorated with character rings. All the kids there thought that was the coolest thing. I have to agree. My birthday is coming up soon. If my husband could manage to stick a ring made of something other than plastic on a cupcake (preferably strawberry with white frosting), then that would be my very favorite cupcake decoration of all time. :-)

I am all about sprinkles! I also like topping my cupcakes with candies like Ferrero Roche, Baci, Hershey Kisses, Nuggets, etc.
I've got a fancy-pants piping bag and nozzles. I've got all the kit a cupcake fanatic is supposed to have.
But do you kowow what I like to use to ice my cupcakes? What gives me the best results time after time?
A zip-lock bag with the corner snipped off.
For real.
And my cupcakes are hella pretty!

I don't like to do extravagent things--I'm not THAT good yet, I'm still a beginner in cake/cupcake decorating. But this is how I like to decorate!
I like to use cute cupcake liner/papers.
I frost swirls with either a 1M or 12 piping tip.
Then, I like to make little fondant/gumpaste toppers--you know, cute things--like roses, rubber duckies, or McDonald's food!

I love to find out a persons favorite candy and bake it inside the cupcake and then after frosting the cupcake sprinkle some of the chopped up candy on top.

I love cupcakes since it seems we're never able to finish an entire cake before it drys out or worse. We make cupcakes (plain) and freeze them. Then we just mix up a little buttercream frosting and thaw as many cupcakes as we need.
