For the record, we don't think cupcakes have jumped the shark (for those who are confused, it's a phrase originating with the show Happy Days, according to Wikipedia, and means that a subject has "past its peak").
But if we're wrong and they have...they can join bacon in the formerly cool foods category, plus at least we get super cool art like this piece by self-described Yo-Yo Genius and Craft Mogul Doctor Popular, found on his blog and his Flickr account (via Ariel Waldman on Twitter). He's also on Twitter with a very cool cupcake background per the image below, which you can read more about in his blog post. For the record, Doctor Popular thinks cupcakes have jumped the shark, but since he so kindly let us post his artwork, we will agree to disagree with him on that point.
