Is $3 too much to pay for a cupcake?

Blogger thund3rbox asks is $3 too much for a cupcake?

Hey, cupcakes! Today, I was at Bristol Farms and noticed their $3 cupcakes. $3 ?!? Yeah that's a lot, but you know what? I've HAD their cupcakes before and they are frickin' AWESOME! How do you put a price on an experience, a memory that you'll carry with you for the rest of your life? A memory you can always draw upon when things get down, something to regress to, to perk you up when the MAN is keeping you down? Three bucks doesn't seem like so much now, does it.

So how much would you pay for the above cupcake? Any cupcake? How much have you paid for one?

I've paid $4 for a really giant ones from Bourbon Street Southern Gourmet Pantry that I thought were too big, but I was sharing them:

I would pay $3 or $4 for an amazingly delicious and beautifully decorated cupcake as a special treat or gift. I would, not, however pay that much for birthday cupcakes for my toddler, especially when the taste and decor would not truly be appreciated.
Bristol Farms cupcakes are well worth the $3 price tag. They are huge and very good. Bristol Farms was voted number one in Orange County for cupcakes! So many other prices charge $3 or so for bad cupcakes. Thank you Bristol Farms!

$3.25 is what I paid for a sprinkles cupcake recently. That and a 30 minute wait. The cupcake was not worth the wait and the money! If the cupcake had been moist and remarkably tasty it would have been worth it! So now I am on a mission to make one that would be worth the wait. Any great vanilla/white cupcake recipes?

How about this one...
I paid $5.00 per cupcake at Black Forest Bakery in Lake Forest, CA. They were super cute (they were baby duckies ontop of bubbles for a baby shower) but $5.00!! I did NOT have one but heard they were good. But $5.00 good...hhhmmm. I wouldn't have paid it but it was for my sister. And she HAD to have them.
Love your blog!
