Guest blog and big contest from A Baked Creation

This is Rachel here - we are winding up our guest blogs (there is one more I have to post from last year) and are so grateful to A Baked Creation for this fabulous contest. My apologies for getting it up so late in the year, it was meant for January 1st but I'm sure you will all be more than happy to enter their contest now! Also, how adorable are their cupcake shots?

Hello! This is Sylvia and Howard from A Baked Creation and we love cupcakes, creative designing, and eating. We are very excited to be guest blogging on Cupcakes Take the Cake - especially on New Years! Thanks to Rachel, Stacie, Nichelle, and Allison for satisfying our cupcake cravings year after year!

New Year's Resolution Giveaway Contest

Now, we know that the best way to kick off 2009 is to have a Giveaway Contest! So first, we must thank Melissa from HarperCollinsCanada for If You Give a Cat a Cupcake, Lisa from Cupcake Wraptures for her beautiful cupcake wrappers, Jessica from Chronicle Books for Sky High: Irresistible Triple-Layer Cakes, Anna from Hachette Book Group for Confetti Cakes for Kids, Lindsey from Da Capo Books for Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World, and Diana & Karen from Wilton Industries for the 19 Count Party Stand! Once again, thank you all for ringing in the New Year by providing great prizes for some lucky readers!
If You Give a Cat a Cupcake Written by: Laura Numeroff Illustrated by Felicia Bond If you give a cat a cupcake, he'll ask for some sprinkles to go with it. When you give him the sprinkles, he might spill some on the floor. Cleaning up will make him hot, so you'll give him a bathing suit . . . and that's just the beginning! The lovable cat who first appeared in If You Give a Pig a Party now has his very own book! Written in the tradition of the bestselling If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond's newest story will show everyone that Cat is where it's at! Don't forget to check out Laura Numeroff's website and MouseCookieBooks.com!
Sky High: Irresistible Triple-Layer Cakes Written by Alisa Huntsman and Peter Wynne Photography by Tina Rupp Sky High - A classic layer cake has always been the best party pleaser, but this cookbook takes dessert to a whole new level. From luscious chocolate creations to drizzled caramel confections, take simple layer cakes to new heights with Sky High.
Cupcake Wrapture Couture for Cupcakes 5 dozen cupcake wrappers for you to dress up your cupcakes! These new designs are not even displayed in the store yet, but one lucky winner will receive Ottoman, Candy Shop, Pink and Green Damask, Sock Monkeys, and Tiara cupcake wrappers! And to make a daily "must do " list which i have one copy in front of me on the table and one copy in my pocketbook to check off.
And to learn all I can about cupcakes of course!

Since I can only pick one (i pick all of them!) then my Favorite Resolution is: "6. I would like to travel or visit someplace I've never been before."

I've never been anywhere and I mean nowhere at all except the lovely state of New York where I live, and I've also never been to any kind of cake show. So my resolution is to go to an out of state show, hopefully more than one. I'm still new and ready to learn and it would be great to explore a bunch of new places and learn so much at same time!

#9. However, I should alter it a bit... I should not put leftover frosting on toast, waffles, and yes, sometimes cornbread.

My favorite is definitely #3 - going out of my comfort zone! I am graduating this year and will be out finding a job and making myself a success. As I am more reserved by nature, this will be a huge challenge for me.

My fave is resolution #1. I had a cupcake wedding cake for my wedding in October. For my new family Christmas gathering, I made gingerbread cupcakes with a buttercream frosting & peppermint sprinkles. I need to continue the cupcake love...

Love it. Who knew resolutions could be so cute? I especially love #9--Maybe it's time to introduce those other food groups besides sugary buttercream delights, to my body.

This year I want to learn how to really cook before I go to college. I don't want Ramen Noodle Blues!

Great Blog, thanks for the contest!

My resolution is to finally build the Noah's Ark of Cupcakes that I've been dreaming about. It will be one giant cupcake, with pairs of many different varieties "marching into it." Hopefully, the whole project won't end with it being swept away in a flood...

I have 2 favorites: Not eating frosting in the morning, although I'm more guilty of eating it as a midnight snack (too good to avoid)

And to travel to new places. I'll be traveling a lot this year, but to places I already love! Maybe next year will be some place exotic and new...

Fave's- #9 and #1- cupcakes are meant to eat any time, any day, any where. Icing is the best....real buttercream icing. I have my 3 year old Nephew hooked on it. Everytime I see him he says, "Gigi, did you bring a prize for me?" He always wants icing and cake.

Resolution 1 (spread cupcake joy to the world)for certain as my local area is discovering cupcakes for the first time and loving every tasty little cute sparkly minute

But also Resolution 2 (be more organised) because my baskets of flavourings, colourings, gum paste, sprinkles, piping nozzles, piping bags, cupcake wrappers, sugar paste cutters and tools etc etc etc have grown crazily this year and I plan more more MORE.......world domination for cupcakes!
