Many congrats to our Kelly Ripa/Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) tee shirt winner, Tammi from Kentucky. A donation to the OCRF is also being sent. Yay! (Our winner was chosen via Random.org's genrator, which I cannot, for the life of me, cut and paste on this page.)
This brings me to a new giveaway, courtesy CTTC and Lyndsay of A Cupcakery/Sweet Cuppin' Cakes Bakery & Cupcakery Supplies!
Remember my plea for help on the "uglifying" strawberries? One of the people to come to my aid was Lyndsay, owner of Sweet Cuppin' Cakes Bakery & Cupcakery Supplies (you can see her ad on our page, to the left). She recommended slicing the strawberries with this here doohicky, the Simply Slice strawberry slicer, followed by dusting them with berry sugar (here in the U.S. it's known as superfine or ultrafine sugar).
Although I eventually ended up using the lemon-juice method, I'll be trying out Lynsay's suggestion next. I've got my slicer and some berry sugar ready to go. Next up: chocolate cupcakes with straberry toppers!
I was charmed to find that she mailed me, all the way from Canada, two of these magic wonders, one for me and one as a gift for a lucky CTTC viewer! Many thanks for your generosity, Lyns.
So...does anyone out there suffer from the same problem I had? Want to try the strawberry slicer for yourself? I'll be picking a random winner from the comments below, so please comment with a way to connect -- email or Blogger account/Website info. I'll be selecting a random winner on Monday, March 9, at 5:oo pm ET.

I can't cut evenly, for one, and I hear they turn ugly after a bit.
Though, I'm wanting to try this now... :]
(and p.s.: my verification word is licrarar. is that even a word? really?)

I had a disaster with strawberry cupcakes last year during Mother's Day. I couldn't get uniform slices at all and when I finally put what I had on the cupcakes, they dripped all over the sides and turned my beautiful white cream cheese topping into a watery pink mess. :(
They were still delicious, but I'd like to have another go at getting them aesthetically correct next time.
