Happy one year anniversary, Sweet Revenge!

Today marks the one-year anniversary of Greenwich Village (NYC) bakery Sweet Revenge, where I stopped by last night (video TK).

I've spent many an evening there, often after Korean food across the street at Do Hwa. It's one of the few places in New York you can have a beer or glass of wine along with a cupcake, and what elegant, impressive cupcakes they are! We had a very successful, frosting-shot-filled cupcake there and look forward to many more sweet cupcake evenings (and days) at Sweet Revenge.

Congratulations to owner Marlo Scott (with me, above, last night) on a first fabulous year!

Their new summer flavor is Bird of Paradise, pictured above, which has mango buttercream and lime cake. It's a big switch from the ultra richness of their Dirty and Pure (chocolate and vanilla, respectively) cupcakes. Here's the inside:

It has an unusual taste, with the sweetness of the mango combined with the tartness of the lime, and is especially good for summer.

It's happy hour all weekend, so stop by to celebrate at 62 Carmine Street, NYC.
